4/ Focus of the week: Hiring Web3 Talents šŸ¤

In the race for web3 adoption and conquest, every business has been facing the same recurring problem… how to find web3 talents??? Lack of web3 education, not enough blockchain developers, and an incredible rise in wages, it has never been so difficult to seek real talents. But with methodology and the right decisions, one can still manage to build a strong team for its project! Here are a few learning from our experience… šŸ‘‡

First, it’s really important that you take care to hire the right people for your web3 business. Beyond the product and the community, your team is an essential pillar to the success of the project. Seeking passionate and committed talents should be a milestone in your roadmap so that you can achieve what you’re aiming at. So what’s a good team? A good team is a team proportional to your project. The goal is not to raise funds in order to hire the maximum number of persons at the beginning of the project but to build piece by piece the team as your goals and achievements evolve. Of course, technical profiles should be your main preoccupation since they are both the most difficult to find and convince and they might be essential to propel the good functioning of your technology…

As a web3 entrepreneur, you might receive lots and lots of DMs and private messages with both people promoting their skills (mainly marketing and writing skills) or HR agencies trying to promote their service to help you find the right profile for your business. In my humble opinion, be careful with these two options since talented people barely have a need to DM projects and try to sell their skills. You can still find amazing talents in these situations but just be careful because the race for web3 also brings lots of unskilled people trying to surf the wave to make quick money. In this case, what I do is that I ask people to fill out a quick form ( to sort only the motivated ones) and to link their experiences in the industry and personal background. Then according to my current needs, a call is often a good way to temper the person and detect if it could fit the team.

Three good tips tested to find our working mates now. First, promoting an offer on LinkedIn will surely attract some profiles interested to work on your project. But same advice as before, be careful with their motivations and experience when picking them up. Then mouth-to-mouth communication is surely a great way to hire your talents. Web3 is a friendly place and people start to know each other a lot… Asking business partners, other web3 entrepreneurs you might know, or direct members of your team for nice contacts to hire is really efficient to discover amazing profiles for your company. People might send you trusted people with proven skills and can put you in contact directly so that you can convince them easily. Finally, we found a few of our teammates using freelancing platforms. Basically, it’s a good way to test some profiles on quick and small missions and spend small amounts of money. You’ll be able to test some profiles with your tasks and then if you feel the profile can bring strong value to your team, you can still propose him a bigger contract!Ā

But convincing demanded talents can be tough. The salaries are very high and if you don’t have enough capital to afford high biddings, you’ll need to bring some other arguments. Real talents in web3 are mostly passionate… sell them a powerful vision, great working conditions, advantages, and primes such as tokens airdrops or access to huge events and you might be able to enter the dance. People are tired of working on useless projects and many seek long-term businesses willing to bring real value to the ecosystem, so just sell it well!!!

Dealing with team organization, don’t be afraid to manage your team in a fully remote way. It will give you the opportunity to seek talents all around the world, with different horizons, experiences, and skills. Diversity is really encouraged in a web3 project and will bring substantial value to your project trust me.Ā
